Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The research project SCIROCCO investigates an Oceanic Core Complex and the Kairei Hydrothermal Vent Field at the Central Indian Ridge directly north of the Rodrigues Triple Junction. The geophysical survey applied the methods reflection seismics (multichannel seismics with an 8 km long hydrophon cable and a 50 l airgun array), refraction seismics (81 deployments of ocean bottom seismometers), potential field methods (magnetics & gravity), bathymetry mapping (EM122) and CTD investigations of the Kairei vent field (secondary user project KABA).
