Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The main purpose of cruise M189-2 of the RV Meteor was to collect reference data for satellite validation over the ocean. A small staff of 5 researchers performed different types of remote sensing measurements of clouds, aerosols and tracegases in the atmosphere. One aim is to record different atmospheric quantities during the transition from the southern subtropics, through the tropics into the northern subtropics. Additional data for the DAM project was collected: ADCP at 75kHz and daily samples of the TSG.
