Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The cruise was part of the ICES co-ordinated International Herring Larvae Surveys (IHLS) in 2023/24. The aim is to estimate the distribution and abundance of North Sea herring larvae for assessment purposes. The larvae samples are taken on a standard grid with a station to station distance of approx. 10 nm. Used gear is a modified GULF III plankton sampler (Nackthai). Area under investigation was around UK Scotland, the Orkney Islands and the Buchan area. Samples were collected on 160 stations. The cruise was conducted as scheduled, without any disturbances due to weather condition or technical issues.
