Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

This oceanographic and marine geoscience excursion is a key element of the HGF graduate school POLMAR and the Centre of Excellence POGO at AWI and part of the undergraduate education at the Jacobs University Bremen. Under normal conditions. the course provides the students an excellent opportunity to gain some practical hands-on experience. They would be able to put to test various theories they have learned during their lectures and onboard. They would be given the opportunity to apply learned basics of marine geology, physical oceanography, chemical oceanography, biological oceanography (plankton und benthos) and marine geophysics. A cruise under normal conditions would also foster team-work as they would have to process and interpret the acquired data together. Due to the various COVID restrictions, only day trips were possible, nevertheless, the evaluation and feedback sessions, were very positive.
