Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The GEOMAR AUV team has been operating two GIRONA500 hover AUVs since 2018 and is working on them in terms of stability and usability for use on scientific scientific cruises. To support this, the BELUGA communication framework is being developed. This software tool supports the communication and positioning of the underwater vehicles and their accessories under and above water. After cruise AL533 in February 2020 in cooperation with the GEOMAR JAGO team, the BELUGA backend was completely restructured and revised. On the cruises AL538/1 and /2, the communication aspects of the system were tested, and on cruise AL552c the first data for underwater navigation were generated. The following are the objectives for this instrument test AL559a: - Test of the new Evologics SiNAPS version 2.2. - Record water sound profiles and integrate them into SiNAPS - Prepare and test Sparus II AUV - Test NORBIT WBMS Multibeam on AUV LUISE - Recording test data with Tritech GEMINI 720im Multibeam Imaging Sonar - Recording test data with Aanderaa Oxygen Optode 4330 - Record test data for positioning (LBL-Ranging) - Record test data for positioning with USBL - Record test data ranging between transponders - Training of Team members
