Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

This cruise was planned as a student training cruise of the Institute of Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Sciences (IMF), but due to the current corona situation and the resulting policies and guidelines, the participation of students had to be waived. For this reason, educational videos material were produced on this cruise to teach IMF students the basics of the scientific methods of sampling techniques, equipment and working procedures of fisheries science and biological oceanography on board of a research vessel. In addition to the educational videos, the entire food chain in the different basins of the western Baltic Sea along the cruise route was examined by means of targeted sampling in order to give the students a comprehensive insight into the ecology of the western Baltic Sea.
