Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

TRANSFORMERS: TRANSFORM faults – tectonics, Earthquakes and Ridge-affected Second-phase accretion Geological and geophysical characterization of the Oceanographer Transform fault at 35?N on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. During the cruise we depoyled ocean-bottom-seismomters (OBS) and hydrophones (OBH) to record local earthquakes revealing tectonic stress acting on the transform. We further mapped the Oceanographer Transform and the Hayes transform at 33?N and collected rock samples using a dredge at both systems. Last, we covered the OBH. The OBS are still sitting on the seafloor.
