Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Geophysical investigations at known hydrothermal vent fields and massive sulfide areas. The main instrument used was the electromagnetic profiler "Golden Eye" which was used for systematic mapping of four massive sulfide areas at the southernmost part of the Central Indian Ridge. In addition, gravimetric and magnetic data were collected on transit profiles and for a systematic mapping directly north of the Rodrigues Triple Juntion. Multibeam bathymetry data were collected throughout the cruise with the EM122 and EK60 systems. Biological observations of the seafloor fauna were carried out during the Golden Eye deployments with a camera installed on the Golden Eye.
