Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

CEnd04/19:Monitoring of chemical and physical properties of seawater. Monitoring of sediment properties and contaminant burden.The surveillance cruise is part of the annual German North Sea monitoring program. Monitoring of nutrients, trace metals and organic contaminants load in the water column of the south eastern North Sea. In total 41 water sampling sites. Nutrients samples were taken with the CTD. Metals samples were taken by the MERCOS sampler (small PE bottle sampler (4x0,5L)). CTD Profiles were measured at all water sampling sites. Continuous salinity, temperature and fluorescence measurements during the entire cruise, with the ships thermosalinograph. A 10L and 100L Glass Bowl Sampler were applied for organic contaminant sampling. Sediment samples for the determination of organic contaminant burden in surface sediments were taken with the small Box Corer at 17 stations in the North Sea.
