Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The Wadden Sea is characterised by large regional differences, partly driven by import from the North Sea but also by transports via the tidal divide between tidal basins. The latter may play an important role in explaining regional differences between the western and eastern Dutch Wadden Sea. During the first part of the Cruise, we compare nutrient, DIC, O2 and SPM dynamics on a transect through the western Dutch Wadden Sea and compare this to two transects in the eastern part of the Dutch Wadden Sea. At two ankerstations near Dantziggat, the tidal dynamics were investigated. The second part of the research cruise focused on nitrogen dynamics in the Ems estuary. This part of the cruise could not be finished due to engine problems.
