Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Cruise no. 761 of the FRV "Solea II" was conducted as part of the annual ICES Baltic International Acoustic Spring Survey (BASS). The main objective of this hydroacoustic survey is the yearly assessment of small pelagic fishes stock, especially sprat, in the Baltic proper. BASS is coordinated at the international level by the ICES Baltic International Fish Survey Working Group (WGBIFS) where timing, surveying area and the principal methods of investigations are discussed and decided. German investigation area in 2019 covered ICES subdivisions 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29. Other areas in the Baltic Sea were covered by Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland.
