Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Catch comparison studies with an ascending beam trawl and a straight ground gear beam trawl compared to a conventional beam trawl net. The tests were carried out as part of the Drops project. The trawl nets tested are new constructions and are intended to eliminate the need for Dolly Ropes abrasion protection. The preliminary results showed that both new nets had the same catches of brown shrimp as the conventional net.
