Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The cruise HE 529 into the German Bight had the aim to create depth profiles at selected locations in the nature reserve Borkum Riffgrund (NSG BRG) and to capture the subsoil by under water (UW) video recordings. Within the framework of the project, methods and procedures for the sustainable restoration of the European oyster Ostrea edulis in the German North Sea will be developed. The NSG BRG is to be used as a site for a future pilot reef of European oysters. For the selection of an optimal site within the NSG BRG, precise depth knowledge as well as the composition of the soil were of great importance. During the trip, area sonar recordings (EM710 Multibeam) were successfully carried out at 5 stations, as well as UW video recordings (OFOS) at stations 1-3. All selected locations were successfully approached and surveyed.
