Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
This multidisciplinary research cruise was aiming to investigate the distribution, abundance, biomass, production and nutritional condition of several, trophically interlinked Baltic key species, ranging from zoo- and ichthyoplankton over gelatinous organisms to adult fish. The collected samples and data were used in the BONUS project Biodiversity changes – causes, consequences and management implications (BIO-C3), aiming to significantly advance our knowledge base towards the importance and management of the Baltic Sea biodiversity in an ecosystem perspective. The working areas were the contrasting environments of the Arkona, Bornholm, Gdansk and Gotland Basins. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the cruise, a variety of different sampling gears was deployed. In detail the following gear deployments were conducted: 126 CTD casts, 75 Bongo net hauls, 22 Multinet MIDI hauls, 22 WP-2 hauls, 3 Apstein net hauls, 3 Mini-Beamtrawl hauls, 15 Pelagic fishery hauls (Fot? net), 23 Bottom trawl fishery hauls (TV3 net).
