Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

In the frame of a training course with students, realized from scientists of the Baltic Sea Research Institute of Warnemunde, sampling methods and the handling of samples for physical, chemical and biological investigations were demonstrated. For this reason, transects from station TF44 near the mouth of the river Warnow to the Fehmarn island on two daily cruises (18th and 19th 2014). Wind was blowing from south with wind strengths of 5-6 m/sec.. Air temperature varied between 1?C to 7?C. Thus, weather conditions were favourable for our cruise. Each day vertical profiles of temperature, salinity, oxygen and chlorophyll fluorescence were measured using CTD equipped with chlorophyll sensors at six stations having a distance of 7 sm. Water samples for Chlorophyll, phosphate and oxygen concentrations, as well as for autotrophic and heterotrophic picoplankton abundances were taken in three to five depth depending on the water depth. All samples were analysed onboard directly after sampling.The cruises started at 8:am am at the pier of Warnemunde and ended at 5.30 pm at each day.Twelve students of the University of Rostock as well as 3 scientists and 4 technician participated at the cruise.
