Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The research cruise HE414 was part of the collaborative project BORA. The sceintific aim of the project is to delevop a calculation model to predict the waterborne noise of offshore pile driving during the construction of an offshore turbine. Three measurement campaign are planned to validate the results of the calculation model. The knowledge of the uppermost sedimentary structure is needed to perform the noise calculation. The main focus of the research cruise HE414 was to determine the sedimentary layers at the site within the wind farm "Riffgrund I Borkum" where one of the measurement campaign within the BORA project will take place. Additionally, it was also from interest to characterize the upper most sedimentary structure in the North Sea.
