Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The objectives of the cruise were 1) to test the SMIS fleet in the Gotland Basin, and 2) to recover and deploy the profiling mooring GODESS. We left Rostock on the 18. January heading for the Gotland Basin, however due to severe weather conditions we spend 3 days working on the Dar?er Sill (no sampling, just acoustical tests). We arrived finally at the mooring site on 23. January at 9:00 UTC. The profiling mooring GODESS was released but did not surfaced, making dredging necessary. Finally, in the fourth attempt the GODESS mooring was recovered (24.01.2014). The SMIS trial included acoustical tests using different modems configurations and a test of the surface vehicle MESSIN. Almost all of our scheduled work was archieved. We made our way back to Rostock where the vessel was moored at 20:00 UTC on the 25. January.
