Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The purpose of the BALTBOX survey is to scientifically investigate and analyze species composition as well as spatial and temporal dynamics of the demersal fish fauna in the German Western Baltic Sea. Since 2003 annual investigations are realized by bottom trawl hauls in specified marine areas, so-called boxes. These fixed boxes were chosen so that water depth is approximately constant and hydrographical conditions are characteristic for this relevant area of the Baltic Sea.
