Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The purpose of the cruise SO-231 was to study the sheared margin in the Mozambique Channel and to investigate the influence of the modern East African Rift system. We acquired a total of 4300 km geophysical profiles with MCS, magnetic, gravity, sediment echosounding and bathymetrie. Further we conducted a detailed swath bathymetric survey to investigate neotectonic structures.
