Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Biogeochemical cycles of redox-sensitive trace metals (e.g. Mn, Fe, Cr, Mo) in the water column and sediments of currently anoxic deeps of the central Baltic Sea with a special focus on the relation to the formation of Mn-rich minerals (Mn carbonate and Mn sulfide). CTD-rosette and pump-CTD were used for water samples while sediments were obtained by multicorer and gravity corer. From the sediments, pore waters were extracted by rhizons. Furthermore, an in-situ analyser for dissolved Fe and Mn in the open water was tested.
