Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The cruise is part of the ICES co-ordinated International Herring Larvae Surveys (IHLS) in 2012/13. The main aim is to estimate the distribution and abundance of herring larvae for assessment purposes. The area of investigation is around the Orkney and Shetland Islands. The samples are taken on a standard grid (stations are 10 nm apart) by a modified GULF III plankton sampler (Nackthai).
