Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The cruise was conducted to study the spawning activities in the Kieler Bight. The last detailed informations about the spawning grounds of cod and sprat in this area were about 50 years old. Due to eutrophication and climate change a shift in the plancton situation was observed in the last decades. But little is known about the effects on the spawning events and the on-growth conditions of the Ichthyoplankton. The cruise was designed to get informations about the fish distribution with a new multifrequency echosounder. On the same time CTD, Multi- and Bongo net sampling was performed to investigate the spatial distribution of Zoo- and Ichthyoplankton and its hydrographic environment.
