Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Objective: International acoustic survey for pelagic fish stocks in the North Sea The survey start had to be postponed. Due to different technical and network malfunctions on Jule 2nd FRV 'Solea' left Cuxhaven port and steamed towards the transect start position (55?45'N, 06?2,1'E). The calibration was carried out at the postition 55?45'N, 07?21'E. All investigations were done during day time from 0400UTC - 1800UTC. The acoustic equipment was an echosounder EK60 with the hull mounted transducers ES38B and ES120-7 respectively. Due to severe weather conditions, the survey and echo recording had to be interrupted at the 16th. of Jule. In the evening of July 18th FRV 'Solea' entered Cuxhaven harbor after covering 1709 NM of hydroacoustic transects. Altogether, 38 fishery hauls with a pelagic trawl net PSN 388 'Krake' and 55 CTD casts were conducted.
