Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Preamble: The oceanographic and marine geoscience excursion HE-324 is a key element of the undergraduate education at the Jacobs University Bremen and the graduate education at AWI (ESSReS and POLMAR). This cruise provides the students with an excellent opportunity to gain some practical hands-on experience. The goal of the cruise is not to gather scientific data but to provide an introduction to seagoing expeditions (learn to deploy equipment used for chemical, biological and geophysical data acquisition). Except for the CTD and some of the geophysical profiles, no other data were measured. For instance, during deployment of the CTD/rosette, water samples were taken for nutrients, chlorophyll and carbonate chemistry parameters but no (onboard or post cruise) analyses took place. The CTD data of this cruise can be found under http://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.745053. The geophysical data are stored on the server at Jacobs university and are available upon request.
