Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

One main objective of the research cruise was the assessment of the distribution patterns and numbers of two seabird species, the Red-throated Diver and its close relative, the less numerous Black-throated Diver, in their main concentration area during the period of their maximum occurrence. Secondly, the cruise focused on investigations of the habitat choice of Red-throated Divers and the identification of biotic and abiotic habitat parameters in the main concentration area by hydrographic measurements and fishery trawls along the gradients of diver abundance.
