Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The main objective of the cruise was to study the impact of ocean acidification on a natural plankton community in large 60m? free-floating mesocosms. The study was planned together with RV Alkor. However, due to technical problems with the equipment, we focused our research on the daily cycling of primary productivity in the cyanobacterial bloom. Furthrmore, the exudation and transfer of dissolved organic matter from primary production into the microbial loop were studied intensively. Bottle experiments with additions of nutrients and different pH and pCO2 levels were performed.
