Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Biogeochemistry, Microbiology and Paleoclimatology in the Black Sea. The biogeochemical and microbiological work aimed at investigating anaerobic processes in and around the chemocline in the water column and in sediments of the deep anoxic basins. The paleoclimatology work targeted the paleoceanographic evolution and development of the paleo-climate from the last interglacial until today. We started working in the central western Black Sea, went to the Ukrainian waters west and east of the Crimea Peninsula and finished work in Turkish waters roughly between 34? and 38? East. Instruments used were CTDs, pump CTD, in situ pumps, luminomter, multicorers and gravity corer with up to 15 m tube length.
