Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The first leg of Meteor cruise M 60 is studying the biology, chemistry and physics of seamount-like topographic structures in the eastern Mediterranean. The study is part of the Census of Marine Life project CENSEAM. Main study site is the Anaximenes Mountain region. The Rhodes Basin is used as a deep-sea reference station. Main tasks include: plankton and benthos sampling, seafloor photography, water sampling for chemistry, profiles of temperature, salinity and oxygen
