Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Deep Water Survey: In September, the Celtic Explorer travelled to the shelf edge slopes west of Ireland and the Porcupine Bank to study the deep water fish and their ecosystem in a multidisciplinary fashion. As well as conducting fishing operations, hydrographic data was collected to describe the physical environment these fish live in. Grab samples of the sea bottom were taken and analysed for the characteristics of sediments and its biota. \n
