Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Objective: International acoustic survey for pelagic fish stocks in the Baltic Narrative: RV "SOLEA" left the port of Rostock-Marienehe on 5th September 2006.The acoustic equipment (echosounder EK60) was calibrated on 6th October 2006 north of Ruegen. The joint German-Danish acoustic survey covered the whole Sub-divisions 21, 22, 23 and 24. All investigations were done during night as in last years. 54 trawl hauls were carried out to identify the target species. From each haul sub-samples were taken to determine length and weight of fish. Further samples of herring and sprat were frozen for additional investigations in the lab (i.e. sex, maturity, age). After each trawl haul the hydrographic condition was recorded by a CTP-O2 probe. The survey ended on 23th October 2006 during early morning time. RV "SOLEA" entered the port of Rostock-Marienehe the same day.
