Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Specific objectives of this cruise were: - Confirmation of the enhanced mixing downstream of bridge piles flown by stratified water as observed by the measurements performed in the frame of the Alkor cruise AL272 in January/February 2006 and finding a relation of the mixing intensity to stratification and speed of the undisturbed flow. - Acquiring a set of measurements for estimating the different terms of the turbulent kinetic energy balance on both margins of the inflowing salt water plume north of Kriegers Flak and in the Bornholms Gatt. - Studying the local processes of enhanced vertical mixing in the northern parts of the Bornholms Gatt and its impact on the salt water mass transformation between the Arkona and the Bornholm Sea. - Observing the pathways of salt water plumes east of Bornholm - Measuring the Mass- and Salt transport in the Mon channel crossing the Darss Sill south of Mon island.
