Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

In the frame of a training course with students, realized from scientists of the Baltic Sea Research Institute of Warnemunde, sampling methods and the handling of samples for physical, chemical and biological investigations were demonstrated. For this reason, daily cruises in the coastal area in front of Warnemunde were performed from 07.02. to 10. 02. 2006. Samples on the Monitoring stations 41, 42, 43, 44 could be taken only on the 8. and 10. February. Due to high wind speed, the programme had to be changed. Thus, no samples for zoobenthic and geological investigations were take in front of Kuhlungsborn. On the 9. February, a permanent station were performed at stn 44. In addition to the training course, the new research vessel \" M.S Merian\" was embraced and escorted to the harbour of Warnemunde on the 9. February. Normally, the cruises started at 8 am and lasted to 4 pm each day in the harbour of Marienehe. On the 9. February, the cruise started earlier ( at 6.30 am) and lasted to 2.30 p.m. 18 students of the University of Rostock as well as 2-4 scientists and technicians participated at the cruise each day.
