Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The SFB-574 at Kiel University studies the role of volatiles and fluids in subduction zones and their possible relations to the triggering of natural hazards. The accretionary convergent continental margin off central Chile will be the next target area for the investigations of SFB-574. The cruise M67/1 "CHILE-MARGIN-SURVEY" was set about to map the area bathymetrically and magnetically to yield an extensive data basis for future investigations and to identify potential sites of fluid venting.
