Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The Irish National Seabed Survey (INSS) encompasses an area that is approximately ten times the size of Ireland's land area and represents one of the largest seabed mapping projects undertaken anywhere in the world. Maps that result from the INSS are a pre-requisite for the policy evolution, management and sustainable development of Ireland's marine resources. The seven-year '32 million survey of Ireland's seabed known as the Irish National Seabed Survey (INSS) is now nearing the end of its sixth surveying year and this cruise forms part of this project.
