Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The assessment of orange roughy (Hoplostethus atlanticus) stocks in the deep waters off the west of Ireland using acoustic survey techniques Marine RTDI Fund Strategic Project examining Orange Roughy stocks in the deep waters (800m to 1500m) off the west coast of Ireland using acoustic survey techniques. As the Orange Roughy fishery is being pursued with no management procedures in place this project is essential to underpin a management plan for the fishery. The primary aims of the project include: * to undertake an assessment of stock. * develop marine RTDI capacity in the area of deep water fisheries acoustics. This cruise forms part of a current assessment of Orange Roughy stocks.
