Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
In frame of the BMBF-project "GLOBEC Germany" Trophic Trophic Interactions between Zooplankton and Fish under the Influence of Physical Processes, during this cruise the hydrographic conditions in the western Baltic were investigated, with a focus on the mesoscale dynamics of sprading saline plumes. Specific objectives were: ? Investigation of summer stratification in the western Baltic ? Quantifying the dense inflow into the Bornholm Basin through the Bornholm strait. ? Following the dense plume if existent and investigate its temporal evolution ? Observation of mesoscale eddies in the Bornholm Basin ? Stolpe channel overflow, mapping its development, eddy shading ? Measuring the transformation of water masses towards and in the Stolpe Channel ? Test of new measurement strategies and devices (Glider, towed ADCP)
