Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

1- To unravel the break-up and drift history of SE-Africa relavtive to the Antarctic continent some 150 Ma, extensive geophysical investigations were carried out along the Mozambique Ridge and the Mozambique Basin. The main geophysical experiment was to gather areal marine magnetic data. To complete the data set the following types of data were collected: multibeam, magnetics, gravity, sediment echosounder. 2-Geological sampling of the seafloor with a dredge at 10 locations to study the composition of the basement rocks of the Mozambique Ridge and some seamounts in the Mozambique Basin. 3-To calibrate the depth model of the multibeam system CTD stations were performed in the research area
