Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The sea floor drilling rig MeBo (Meeresboden-Bohrgeraet) was testet foor the first time in water depths up to 1700 m. This rig is a new development of the University of Bremen in cooperation with the companies Prakla Bohrtechnit und Schilling Robotics. It was shown during this cruise that the drill works properly. Drilling depths up to 2455 cm were reached, by push coring and rotary drilling. In addition 15 hawls with the Isaacs Kid Midwater Trawl were conducted for investigation of the deep water cephalopoda.
