Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
To carry out the quarter 3 International Groundfish Survey of the North Sea, sampling at 75 primary stations covering the area from latitude 51? 45'N to 61? 30'N. At each station, a 30 minute tow was made with the GOV bottom trawl with micro CTD attached. The total catch taken in the GOV trawl was weighed and measured by species. Age/length keys will be produced from selected commercially important species. Surface water samples taken at 37 primary stations for caesium and tritium analysis. A 5 min 2m beam trawl haul was conducted at 32 selected main trawl positions and a set of 5 Van Veen grab deployments at 24 of those 32 to provide benthos data. This work was part of an EU funded project 'Managing Fisheries to Conserve Groundfish and Benthic Invertebrate Species Diversity'. Surface water samples were collected from 37 sites for caesium and tritium analysis.
