Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Sampling of paleo-shorlines at the Banc Majuan, an elevated area in th straits of Gibraltar, that was exposed during the sea-level lowstand at the last glacial maximum, comparative study to determine the interaction of sea-level change and tectonics in an transtensional stress regime. Methods include video observation of seafloor by towed video-sled (OFOS) to idenify paleo-shorelines. Inspection of paleo-shoreline deposits by small remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Cherokee and sampling using grab system, and gravity coring.
