Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Carry out an iron fertilization experiment in a stable eddy in the Antarctic Cirumpolar Current. An eddy located by altimeter imagery was surveyed and fertilised at 49? S; 18?E. Another eddy at 49?S; 2?E was fertilised and surveyed a week later. This second eddy was chosen as the main experiment. Detailed measurements of water column properties with a CTD-rosette and nets were carried out till the end of the experiment on 21.03. A drifting buoy with attached instruments was deployed continuously in the centre of the fertilised patch. At the end of the experiment 3 floaters were deployed in the patch.
