Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The investigations are used for the decrease of discards in the trawl fishing of Baltic Sea.The construction of a new rear dragnet section was used for these experiments. The cod end was in a level way divided. Cod and flounder should be separated from each other by that. The netting above the separator panel should make the slipping for small cods possible.On the other hand the lower net panel should facilitate the escape of undersized flounders and other small flatfish.The escaped fish were absorbed with a covering cod end. This cover was level way divided exactly as the main cod end. So the fish slipped through the upper panel could be separated by the down escaped ones.
