Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The main objectives of this survey are: 1. To obtain 2004 estimates of distribution and abundance of prawns on the Aran, Galway Bay and Slyne grounds using underwater television. These will be compared with those last year to help determine the current status of these stocks. 2. To make use of the UWTV survey to estimate the densities of other shellfish and benthic organisms and to record evidence of trawl activity. 3. To collect samples of sediment at each UWTV station.

Small geo-referenced sediment sample was taken and frozen at all completed stations for later particle size and analysis. All sediment samples were taken using the Day Grab and sediment was taken from the surface to around 10cm depth. | no |
