Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The cruise aims at a study of the processes which control the outbreaks of hydrogen sulphur on the shelf off Namibia during austral summer with particular emphasis on the hydrographic conditions in the water column. The focus of the cruise is on the observation and compilation of the hydrographic, hydro chemical, and hydro optical key processes which control the formation of hydrogen sulfide in the water column. The results of the cruise are in context with two further cruises which are focussed on the distribution of the gas content of the sediments and the fluxes of matter through the water sediment interface on the Namibian shelf.
