Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Poseidon cruise 309 is studied the biology, chemistry and physics of seamounts in the NE Atlantic within the framework of the EU-funded research project OASIS (OceAnic Seamounts: an Integrated Study), focussing on one study site: Seine Seamount, which is located ca 180 km northeast of Madeira. Main tasks included plankton and benthos sampling, seafloor photography, water sampling for chemistry, profiles of temperature, salinity and oxygen.
