Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The PERU UPWELLING project aims to establish a comprehensive model of the microbiological, sedimentary, and geochemical processes forming the sediments of the high-productivity zone of the Peru upwelling, and to interpret the variations of the sedimentary upwelling record during the Last Glacial and the Holocene. Especially, the EI-Nino variability will be traced in different time intervals using seismic, sedimentological, geochemical and micropaleontological methods.
