Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The EMTEC (Eastern Mediterranean Transient ECosystem monitoring) survey was carried out in the whole eastern Mediterranean with two ships, the R/V Meteor (Germany) and the R/V Urania (Italy), both at sea in April-May 1999.\nThe latter cruise was specifically designed to monitor the statusand the evolution of the water mass structures and dynamics in the eastern Mediterranean after the major transient event occurred during the period 1987-1995.
