Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Main study aims in the Sea of Marmara. Investigations on the interrelationships between the local tectonic activity and fluid/gas migrations. Reconstruction of the quaternary pale oceanographic history of the sea of Marmara. Main tasks are Bathymetric mapping to investigate local tectonic and the seafloor morphology, study of seafloor micro morphology, and finding of gas emanations, sampling and analysis of tectonically influenced solid and fluid budgets from the deep regions of the Sea of Marmara; study of the pore water and near bottom water geochem and inventions of the paleoceanographic evolution with the help of sediment corers/multicorers. Cruise study aims in the Urania Basin, and Ionian Sea were Bathymetric measurements to investigate seafloor morphology (Urania), release of a sediment trap system to detect recent bio-productivity and sampling sediment cores.
