Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
In the context of the EU project CANIGO, the Cap Ghir filament region off Cap Ghir (Cap Ghir filament) at the coast of NW Africa and its influence on open ocean processes has become an important issue when investigating the eastern branch of the subtropical gyre. This cruise served to study both the extend, as well as the water column structure, biogeochemical properties and particle flux in different regions of the filament in the winter season. Also, routine monthly station work at the European time series station ESTOC were carried out and a sound source (SQ4, IFMKI) was recovered east of Madeira.
