Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
GINCO (Geoscientific Investigations along the Active Convergence Zone between the Eastern Eurasian and Indo-Australian Plates off Indonesia) is a joint German-Indonesian geoscientific research project with the scientific objective to study the structure and evolution of the offshore part of the active subduction zone off southern Sumatra and western Java as well as in the Sunda Strait. During the first of three consecutive SONNE cruises within the GINCO series in total more than 4,100 km of multichannel seismic (MCS) data have been surveyed.
